Taylor Swift is back with a much anticipated single “Look What You Made Me Do.” This first lead single for her upcoming album, Reputation shows she is never getting back together with her old self. Last year she took a break from the spotlight after a series of silly feuds and now Swift makes it clear that revenge is on her mind after suffering from the damage done to her “reputation”. This song and video is a change in pace for Taylor. You can tell she isn’t the same girl as she once was. Not only did her lipstick get darker, so did her attitude. In the video Swift plays a chilling zombie and sips tea with cobras. In the closing moments of the video, 15 different versions of the “old” Taylor stand in front of jet plane. One refers to another as fake, while another starts to cry, and another snaps, “There she goes playing the victim … again.”
This new side of Taylor may not be for everybody, but if you’re in the mood for a catchy pop song, this is the one. Its repetitiveness will be stuck in your head all day. This song appeals to girls of all ages. Taylor Swift uses her bad press to create good music, and jab back at the people who nearly ruined her “reputation”. Looks like there are some things you can’t just shake off.
