The Mug Game 2017

There was a wave of joy as Rocket Hockey defeated SHA 3-1 during the Mug Game on Sunday, September 10. The Mug Game is an annual field hockey game played by rivals Assumption and Sacred Heart. Many AHS fans flooded Sacred Heart, decked out in their beach gear to cheer on the field hockey team. The freshmen and JV teams were defeated by the Valkyries 3-0, 2-0 respectively. Varsity goals were scored by seniors Erica Cooper, Camryn Pichea, and Cassidy Sweeney. When asked how she felt after the game, senior Izzy Porco stated, “I feel great after coming off a loss in the Apple tournament, winning this game put us back in the right mindset.”

The team was ready for the challenges that came with this game. Senior Ashley Willbur said that their preparation consisted of, “Physically, we practiced a lot. Mentally, we got our confidence back after being beat by CAL.” When asked what Rocket Hockey will do next, Debbie Judd responded, “Continue to improve as we face everything and rise!” The Rockets are hoping to keep winning throughout the rest of their season.
