Star Wars: The Last Jedi will not disappoint. The movie, which is sequel to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, follows Rey. She has just found Jedi master Luke Skywalker and must convince him to aid the Resistance. In the process, Rey realizes that she possesses a sensitivity to the Force, similar to what Luke experienced when he was young. The movie also highlights the position of the Resistance against their opposition, The First Order. The Resistance is seriously lacking resources, and they are forced into a prolonged game of cat and mouse with the First Order. However, they soon discover that the First Order can track them via lightspeed. They are quickly losing hope, and they need a tool (preferably Luke) to inspire themselves and their allies.
The new movie of the series stays true to the spirit of the beloved franchise, while paying homage to the late Carrie Fisher. Though some of the action scenes begin to feel long and a bit excessive, the plot keeps viewers thinking. The new movie answers questions about Rey’s parents, though it is not quite what viewers expect. It questions about the future of the Resistance and whether or not the legacy of the Jedi truly is finished. The Last Jedi is certainly worth the time and money to see.
