The idea of choosing a college can be a scary and intimidating task. Every day, high school students all over North America are faced with the daunting question “Where do you plan to attend college?”

Today the Rocketlaunch staff ventured around the JW Marriott in Indianapolis researching just that, “What college fits you best?”

Everyone is different, there is no “one size fits all” institution. Some students opt out of college while others spend years earning their Doctorate. Whatever path you choose, make sure the decision is right for YOU, don’t settle.

There are a variety of factors that weigh into your decision. Some students choose to attend small private intuitions, while others choose to attend big state schools. There are hundreds of other considerations including price, location, size, majors, and campus atmosphere. Overwhelmed with details yet? We got some great advice that all perspective students should hear to calm their nerves.

Recruiters recommend to go out and explore your options, not to close yourself off to certain ideas and preconceived notions right of the bat. They encourage students to stay open to all possibilities. Take advantage of all the resources available to you through your school. Keep in mind, the internet is an amazing resource and has made the search much more accessible and affordable. Lots of the school representatives here today mentioned a variety of scholarships, grants, and work study programs to help students afford tuition.

Higher education is expensive and not everyone can afford it. Colleges encourage students to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible to receive federal aid. Students can also attend a community college to get their basic general education course credits out of the way.

The simple truth is that there is no “best” college, every school has different opportunities and challenges packaged with them. No two students are looking for the same thing in a college or university, everyone has their own views and opinions on what they think is best for them. All in all, students search to find a college that makes them feel like they are right at home.
