In a world full of unknowns and unrest, you have found a place you can count on. This is a place to escape into fashion trends, advice from classmates, entertainment ideas, recipes, and so much more. You have found a place for everyone, a place to relax and wind down. This is the RocketLaunch. We are so glad you’re here.
The RocketLaunch is student published and produced. The RocketLaunch is run by the Assumption Journalism Program, along with our school magazine (Rosecall), the yearbook (Rosecast), our social media account (@rocketsjournalism), and our literary magazine (Rose Window). The website this year will feature articles of all kinds. However, it will really be what the student body wants to see. The content we publish will range from sports coverage to DIYs to at home ideas. We will publish each Tuesday and Friday and plan to provide a source of entertainment for you all school year. The articles and material posted will all be done by the AHS Journalism staff.
My name is Riley Stull, and I am the 2020-2021 RocketLaunch Editor-in-Chief. This is my third year with the Journalism program, and I hope its my best. Our plan for this year is to provide you, the students, with a place to feel like Assumption even when you can’t be in the physical building. As for our RocketLaunch staff, I am joined by Avery Dobozi, Video Editor, and Michaela Pate, Copy Editor. The rest of the Journalism staff will be contributing each week with articles and posts. We will be providing you with a variety of things to do and read this year. We ask that you bookmark this website page, so you can return every Tuesday and Friday to check out our newest posts.
Due to a lack of interaction with our audience, you, this year, we need a way to get your ideas. We ask that you email all suggestions and ideas to our journalism email (will be posted on the site at a later date). Please know that all suggestions must be appropriate for a school website and a positive addition to our website. We will also be adding a new feature this year, a photo library. Students have always asked for access to pictures we take, and we are excited to implement that this year. This feature should be finalized by mid-October, and we will publicize it when it is ready to go.
This week, we are excited to start off with our first post of the 2020-2021 school year. This week will feature an article about Last First Day by Michaela Pate, Top 10 Quarantine Shows by Erin Lewantowicz, and Online School Tips by Julia Elder. Please give them a read sometime this week and join us back here on Friday for more articles by your favorite Journalism girls. Friday will feature an article about Rose Theatre Company’s Plan for Fall by Alli Brooks, At Home Work Spaces by Lily Bickel, All About iOS 14 by Emily Dewey, and New on Netflix in October by Emily Letterle.
Again, welcome to the RocketLaunch! We are so glad you’re here.
