Movies Coming in 2021

By Riley Stull

Last year’s movie selection was limited to streaming services due to the theaters being closed for so long. Hopefully, this year’s movies can be viewed in the theater with some fresh, overpriced popcorn. Here are some movies to look forward to from January to June in 2021.

Cinderella (February 5, 2021)
There are sooo many Disney princesses, but this one just seems to be Hollywood’s favorite. Well, at least the cast looks good. With stars like Camila Cabello, Idina Menzel, and Billy Porter, the music is guaranteed to be awesome

BIOS (April 16, 2021)
Tom Hanks is the last person left on Earth. That’s it. That’s why you should watch it. Just kidding! Hanks plays a sick inventor who’s the very last person left on Earth after the apocalypse. In the movie, he’s trying to build a robot that protects the life of his dog if the dog were to pass away and to keep him company.

A Quiet Place Part II (April 23, 2021)A Quiet Place 2' Release Date Delayed Over Coronavirus | IndieWire

John Krasinski is back to direct again and even wrote this movie. While it’s literally the farthest thing from the Office ever, it seems like it will be just as good and terrifying as the first one. The movie will give the details everyone wanted about how they got to where they are and what happens next.

Black Widow (May 7, 2021)
Black Widow’s journey to being a scary ninja-murderer will finally be revealed! Also, more Marvel is much needed after so much time to re-watch in quarantine. Why is Black Widow so awesome? May 7th will give us all the answers.

Free Guy (May 21,2021)
Ryan Reynolds and Joe Keery. While the story of this movie sounds a little wacky, Ryan Reynolds makes every movie better. In this one, Reynolds stars as Guy, a non-player character in a violent video game world. Guy suddenly realizes that he is in a video game and starts to play. This movie will be the perfect way to start off summer.

Disney's Cruella with Emma Stone: Release date, plot, pictures and everything we know - CNET

Cruella (May 28, 2021)
Another live-action remake movie is welcome any day. This one focuses on the story of Cruella de Vil, the villain of 101 Dalmatians. Emma Stone will play Cruella.

F9 (May 28, 2021)
This is the 9th Fast and Furious movie. That’s all.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (June 11, 2021)
Starring Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, and Paul Rudd, this movie will serve as a sequel to the original Ghostbusters, not the new one. Wolfhard and Grace play a brother and sister who discover that their grandpa was an original Ghostbuster.

Luca (June 18, 2021)
Little to no information has been released about this movie, but it’s by Disney so it cant be bad. The title character, Luca, becomes friends with another boy who is secretly a sea monster. Also, its based in Italy, so gelato!

Considering last year’s selection was slim pickings, this list is exciting! Whether or not these dates will be pushed back or the movies may be available on streaming services rather than in theaters is all to be determined. Either way, these movies look great and much better than re-watching Grey’s Anatomy for the 11th time.
