Music lovers line up outside record stores for these exclusive new pressings – some going as early as the night before to be the first in line for the rare finds. This year, on April 20, 2024, independent record stores across Louisville will be celebrating Record Store Day.
Every year, independent record stores across the world celebrate Record Store Day. A day where new vinyl is released for limited edition purchases. Old albums are repressed for people to purchase, live concerts are available on vinyl for a limited edition pressing and special editions of fan favorites are pressed for the occasion.
This year, over 300 different pressings are being released in stores from artists like The Beatles, Fleet Foxes, Sabrina Carpenter, and The Doors and Laufey. With this wide selection, there is something for almost every music genre.
These are the Louisville record stores participating in Record Store Day 2024:
- Better Days Records
- Guestroom Records
- Matt Anthony’s Record Shop
- The Great Escape
- Underground Sounds
Many of these stores will have special hours to accommodate the occasion, including Guestroom Records, which will be opening three hours early at 9 a.m. for the drop.

The number of copies available in each store varies from location to location, so you may want to check online or call to see how hard a certain pressing will be to find on Saturday. If you are lucky, and a store has not sold out by the end of the day, Record Store Day releases will be available for purchase online starting Sunday, April 21.
