As the winter sports season begins, some teams are under new leadership this year.
This upcoming basketball season is looking a little different for the Rockets. Following the exit of the former coach, Coach Caryn Kovatch stepped in to take the Rockets to a new level, bringing with her three other additions as well. Rocket reporter Lucy Waldridge spoke with Kovatch on her future at Assumption and what brought her to our school. Playing Assumption many times before, Kovatch had heard of Assumption’s reputation, and was excited when she got the opportunity to coach and send her daughter here. She also spoke on her three pillars that she implements into her team each year, and that she not only wants to prepare her players for the upcoming game, but for life and their futures. Coach Kovatch is a wonderful addition to our Rocket program, and we can’t wait to see what she implements into our program.
Victoria Stanton stepped up to coach for Assumption’s swim team this year. She previously coached swim for Douglas Hills. She has loved getting to know the team and is excited to know them further. So far, the girls love having Stanton as their coach. She wants to bring the swim program to a new level. She is joined with assistant coach, Jamie Dumstorf, who’s been coaching for St. Xavier for many years now. Together they make a great coaching team. They are very excited to see where they can take this program in years to come.
The AHS community is so excited to welcome in these coaches and everyone is eager to see where their teams will go this season.
