2023 was a year filled with lots of beautiful moments and taking chances. Our Advanced Digital Journalism staff shared some of their favorite moments of 2023.
Staff writer and Anchor Elizabeth Pugh’s favorite memory was going on the Rose Theatre Company trip to New York City. Rose Theatre spent four days over spring break. On the trip, they visited various parts of New York and saw multiple Broadway musicals. Rose Theatre saw Hadestown, Six and The Play that Went Wrong.
Staff Writer Ava Adams and Adviser Dr. Lisa Wieland’s favorite memory of 2023 was the spring break trip to Greece through Assumption. Adams and Wieland were joined by fellow staff member Sydney Doyle Adams joined Assumption students on a week-long cruise to visit Athens, Mykonos, Kusadasai, Patmos, Rhodes, Crete, Santorini and ended in Delphi.
Staff member Lilly Ford’s favorite memory was going to the beach in Destin, Florida over spring break.
Staff member Lydia Hubbs favorite memory from 2023 was her fieldtrip to the Newport Aquarium for her Marine Biology class.
Staff member Sabrina Paul’s favorite 2023 memory was traveling to Europe with Assumption over the summer. Paul traveled alongside other staff members Erin Hynes, Stelle Bensenhaver and Abigail Wissing to visit Paris, Nice, the Cinque Terre and Venice.
Staff member Lila Reinecke’s favorite 2023 memory was Lead and Learn Wednesdays at Assumption. During Lead and Learn Wednesday Reinecke used the time to relax, sleep in and catch up on schoolwork.
Online Media Editor Erin Hynes’ and Broadcast Producer Sydney Doyle’s favorite 2023 memory was attending the Governors Scholars Program over the summer. Hynes spent five weeks on Murray State University’s campus attending journalism and general studies classes alongside other Kentuckians. Doyle spent five weeks on Morehead State University’s campus attending public policy and administration and general studies classes alongside other rising Kentucky seniors.
Staff member Breigh McFadden’s favorite 2023 memory was tailgating for the first time for the Saint Xavier vs. Trinity football game with her best friends.
With the start of 2024, the Assumption journalism staff hopes that the new year brings new memories to the Assumption community, both in and outside the classroom.
