“When you walk through the doors of Assumption, you’re not just stepping into a school, you’re stepping into 70 years of history, tradition, and a

legacy that we all get to carry forward.” Every year at Assumption, we get a new school theme that is meant to guide us and remind us of what it really means to be a Rocket. This year, the theme is “Living the Legacy.” The goal and message behind “Living the Legacy” is that we continue what Assumption has always stood for while making it our own.
Looking Back
Since 1955, Rockets before us have been building a legacy of faith, learning, leadership, and sisterhood. We see it in our traditions, in the way alums come back to support us, and even in the names on the banners hanging in our gym. It is cool to think that everything we do now adds another piece to that story.
Living It Now
Why the 70th Anniversary Matters
Celebrating this milestone reminds us that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. We are connected to every Rocket who came before us, and we are helping build a foundation for every Rocket who will come after.
“Living the Legacy” does not mean waiting until after graduation. It is in the small, everyday things we do, like helping a classmate who missed a day, cheering until we lose our voices at a game, or stepping up to lead when nobody else wants to. Those little actions build a community we are proud to be part of.
Leaving Our Mark
When we graduate, we want to know we have added something to the Rocket legacy too. For some of us, that might be through sports, clubs, or academics. For others, it is just by being the kind of friend or leader people remember. Either way, we are all leaving something behind for the next group of Rockets to pick up and carry forward.
Our Legacy in Action
This year is extra special because Assumption is celebrating its 70th anniversary. Seventy years of students, teachers, coaches, and Sisters of Mercy have shaped the school we walk into every morning. That is seventy years of big wins on the court/field, unforgettable retreats, lifelong friendships, and lessons that go way beyond the classroom.
This year’s theme challenges us not just to look back at the past but to ask ourselves: What will our legacy be? The answer is not in one big moment; it is in all the little choices we make to live out what Assumption stands for every day.
And as we celebrate 70 years of Assumption, we get to see clearly how special that legacy really is. It is not just history, it is us, right now, shaping what the next 70 years will look like.
