Assumption gives archers an opportunity to show off their skills

This year, archery will be added onto the list of sports that students can participate in at Assumption High School. With the help of Gene Baker, Assumption’s Athletic Director, the tryouts will hopefully be held by October of 2014.
Baker said that two to three students had brought up the idea of forming an archery team to him. He then sent out an ad via email to the entire school to see if anyone else was interested in participating.
“I sent out an advertisement for the team and over sixty girls were interested,” Baker said.
Baker says there will be optional practices held over summer break that anyone will be able to attend. These practices will be like an open gym, so athletes can perfect their skills and understand the sport more than they already do.
Once Baker finds two assistant coaches and an official head coach, more information will be released about the formation of the team.
