The Rockets take on their second annual Rosie Awards

Jennifer Buckman and Robbin Thompson

For the second year now, Assumption has taken their award ceremony to a new level with guest speakers, a cappella groups, crowd-wide selfies, and free pizza.

It all started with Gina Passanisi, junior, leading the school in prayer. Then came the fun. Hosts Woody Zorn and Kathy Schum made their first introductions and invited Becky Henle, principal, to the stage to announce the first awards.

Not too long after, the choir came to the front of the stage and performed a mock performance of the final competition from the movie Pitch Perfect. They started with a team cheer and by the end they had everyone smiling and cheering.

Not only was Pitch Perfect used as inspiration, but The Academy Awards were as well. First, with Zorn taking a group selfie of himself and the juniors, and then with Schum pointing out the smell of pizza, which was then delivered and handed out to the front row by Lee Ashbrook, Assumption’s chef.

The ceremony was closed out with the showing of the 7th Annual Pink and White Game’s mob dance. Teachers watched as students danced in the bleachers and then cheered as the video came to a close.
