New senior class president has big plans for Assumption

Haley Bain

The elections for student government for the 2014-2015 school year were held on May 13 and 14. At the end of the day on May 14, it was announced that the new Senior Class President would be Bailey Higgins.

Higgins was a class officer for her homeroom both her sophomore and junior year. Also, around assumption she is a member of the Recruitment Team and a Summer Seminar Leader. She is also a member of the 2013 state-championship-winning field hockey team. As president, Higgins plans on making a few changes.

“I want the senior class to show more school spirit and get more involved with class activities. We need to make senior year one to remember. I want our class to come together and build relationships that will last long after graduation. We need to be role models to the younger girls and lead the school in a positive way. I also want our class to make an effort to go to more sporting events, chorus concerts, school plays, etc. I think we need more support especially on senior nights,” Higgins said.

Not only is Higgins active in the school community, but she’s also very involved outside of school. When she’s not at school you can find Higgins playing on the Bluegrass Premier Field Hockey Club, which is a travel field hockey team, and coaching St. Albert’s grade school field hockey team.

Higgins is very outgoing and school-spirited, which everyone one saw when she dressed up as Super La-La at this years ‘Super Walk’. Also some fun facts about Higgins are that she has an obsession with tigers, she has a Harry Potter wand from Harry Potter World, and she bought a ukulele, but she never learned how to play it. Lastly, Higgins is looking forward to an exciting year as president.

“I am excited to make senior dreams come true and help people along the way. I am excited to plan some amazing activities that will get the entire class involved so our senior year will never be forgotten. We need to make the most of every minute we have together. I am really excited to see how we will come together and get everyone . . . involved in senior and all-school activities. Next year will be one filled with more championships, sold out plays and performances, and awards in academics than any . . . yet,” Higgins said.
