The Pink and White game is a game to raise breast cancer awareness. Assumption High School seniors play Sacred Heart seniors, taking the best 25 athletes from each school. Starting on March 1st , each team holds tryouts and starts practicing. The goal of the game is to have 2 teams of four total schools come together to play for more than just a football game. It is to play for a cause bigger than a rivalry or the glory of a win. The game raises thousands of dollars for breast cancer patients with about 8-9,000 tickets being sold each year. Assumption and St. X represent Team Pink while Sacred Heart and Trinity are Team White. While the girls play, the two boy’s schools, St. X and Trinity come out and perform a halftime dance while the players take a break.
This year is the 19th Annual Pink and White game originally created as a senior dream by an Assumption student. Without the dream she once had, this game would never have become the timeless tradition it’s known as today.
