Six Assumption High School students were chosen to participate in this summer’s Governor’s Scholars Program. After months of waiting, Kristen Keifer, Erin Raque, Lisi Spence, Katie Reilly, Gina Passanisi, and Margaret Lambe were selected as participants.

Governor’s Scholars Program (GSP) is a five week long program where Kentucky’s brightest rising seniors gather at a university. The locations offered are Bellarmine University, Morehead State University, and Murray State University.

Students choose a specific field to study for the five weeks, ranging from engineering to film studies to psychology. With summer almost here, the students have much to look forward to.

“I am most excited about meeting everybody, but I’m also pretty nervous about that too,” Raque said. “I am really excited because I know I will get to meet a lot of new people and get a feel for what college will be like.”

Throughout the summer, three sessions will be held at the universities. The first session begins June 15, the second June 21, and the third June 22.
